AFFILIATE EVENT: Opera in Orbit

Party at Hudson Terrace with great food, great drinks, and hear some great opera

OPERA IN ORBIT kicks off the next new work coming to the launch pad at Family Opera Initiative, an opera based on Umberto Eco and Eugenio Carmi's book, "THE THREE ASTRONAUTS." It is a moving, simple and thoughtful metaphor about enemies, friendship, and alliances between and among people, nations and universes. An international creative team will bring to life this gentle tale about our need in this world, or any other, for understanding and communication across cultural, political and language barriers. 

THE THREE ASTRONAUTS will be the sixth new opera commissioned by Family Opera Initiative, a company committed to exploding the notion that opera need not be the 'ultimate other.' Our operas embrace a contemporary vernacular energy and resonate with our own culture and languages. They enchant, challenge and inspire multigenerational audiences - our definition of family, and make us laugh, dry and acknowledge who we are.
