SOLD OUT!!! Tricia Rose - Pain, Passion and Possibility: Learning from Difficult Subjects
An intimate discussion with Brown's famed Professor of Africana Studies (specially priced at $5 for young alums!)
April 19, 2012
8 pm - Wine and Cheese Reception
8:30 pm - Discussion with Professor Rose
The Brown Club in New York and the Brown Unity Fund present cocktails and conversation with Brown Professor Tricia Rose in the intimate Ardea Arts Studio.
How do we approach difficult topics such as gender, racial and sexual inequality, discrimination and oppression in ways that empower and connect students, co-workers, community members and ourselves? Dr. Tricia Rose will show us the way, paying particular attention to race and gender by drawing on her own scholarship, life, and nearly 20 years of university teaching.
We're honored to host this evening at Ardea Arts Studio, a mixed media, lounge-style space dedicated to speaking to a diverse global community and championing the human spirit by creating work that brings new audiences and new generations to opera. Come hear Professor Tricia Rose speak and raise a glass, as together we examine these important issues.
