Co-hosted by the Brown Club in New York and the Brown Association of Class Leaders
“An exuberant, dazzling revival of ‘ON THE TOWN,’ filling Broadway's biggest theater with big, crowd-pleasing dance numbers, lavish and clever visuals and superb performances from a massive cast. It's simply a helluva show,” raved Associated Press.
Join the Brown Club in NY and the Association of Class Leaders as we go “ON THE TOWN” together on the night of January 24th-– at this delightful, specially-discounted-for-Brown-alumni-only musical comedy, directed by Tony Award winner John Rando.
The New York Times' Ben Brantley lauded this production. "Takes your breath away…Bernstein's score belongs equally to heaven and earth…the dreamiest dream ballets I've seen in years." ON THE TOWN was the only musical to made Brantley's list of the Best Theater of 2014. It was also USA Today's choice for Best Revival of a Musical in 2014. And the Wall Street Journal said it's "everything a great show should be...anyone who isn't thrilled by this stingingly well-staged production needs a heart transplant."
On Saturday, January 24th, we’ll be in the center orchestra section of the beautifully restored Lyric Theater. This production features a 28-piece orchestra, the biggest on Broadway, playing Leonard Bernstein's masterful score. The dancing is choreographed by "Smash" choreographer Joshua Bergasse, inspired by the original Jerome Robbins choreography, with book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green.
There may even be a talkback with some cast members BEFORE the performance at a nearby location, hosted by Jeremy Handelman '77, one of the show's producers. If that gets confirmed, we'll post an update. But we strongly suggest you buy your tickets for the show now to avoid getting shut out. Our most recent theater event sold out very quickly.
SOLD OUT, a portion of each ticket sale will be donated to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids.
Tickets will be distributed by the Brown Club prior to the performance, either at the potential talkback location or in the theater lobby. We'll post an update once those details are confirmed. Please do NOT go to the box office window.
