Join the Brown Club in NY for coffee and couture at the MET's splendid Costume Institute exhibition China: Through the Looking Glass which closes on September 7th. Enjoy a private "last chance" pre-hours gallery tour led by an art historian for our Brown Club group. Explore the enchanting multi-floor exhibition featuring exquisite couture designs influenced by China's sway on the Western imagination. Marvel at the spectacular creations by Christian Dior, Ralph Lauren, Jean Paul Gaultier and Yves Saint Laurent, among others that are displayed alongside sumptuous decorative objects, elaborate furnishing and sublime artworks that reference China's distinctive motifs and imagery. Experience breathtaking vignettes and a captivating array of stunning haute couture confections paired with dazzling objects from the MET's Asian Art collection. Following the private viewing enjoy coffee and a light breakfast with fellow Brown alumni and their guests in the spacious, light-filled atrium of the American Wing Cafe.
