Please join the Brown Club in New York and Brown TBGALA for a private after-hours tour of the Gay Gotham exhibition led by a museum scholar.

 This groundbreaking show which tells the story of New York City's thriving queer cultural underground has been heralded as the first of its kind.  "Gay Gotham not only exhibits, but also celebrates the vibrant lives of artists suffering from injustice, and offers optimism for tomorrow."

Comprising two galleries, the expansive exhibit spans nearly 100 years of of LGBT culture in New York and features 225 works of art in the form of paintings, photographs, sound recordings, and movies that explore queer expression and achievement in music, theater, and the visual arts.  Notable artists include photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, pop artist Andy Warhol, composer Leonard Bernstein, dance and choreographer Bill T. Jones, activist Harmony Hammond, ballet impresario Lincoln Kirstein, and others.
