William Rogers 1952, In Memoriam
William Rogers ’52, P’80, P’87, lifelong alumni leader for Brown University and loyal supporter of the Brown Club in New York passed at home of natural causes Feb. 7, 2017. He was age 85.
We are sad to report the passing of William David Rogers ’52. Beloved husband of Joy A. Rogers. Loving brother to Ellen Saxl. Graduated the Horace Mann School 1948, Brown University, 1952; Columbia Law School LLB, 1954, clerked for NY State Attorney General, member Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity and Zeta Psi fraternity at Brown. US Navy Lieutenant JG., Masters in Taxation, LLM at NYU. Was a practicing attorney in NYC for over 50 years. Bill loved his alma mater, Brown University, highly active, serving for many decades as Alumni Trustee, Class President & Co‐Chairman of the Brown Fund. In 1984, he received the distinguished Brown Bear award for, among other accomplishments, saving the Brown Club in New York from demise in the late 1970’s. President of the American Korean Foundation and IHAP (the International Human Assistance project), built schools, orphanages & infrastructural systems in Korea and across the Western Pacific. President of Camp Ramapo in Rhinebeck NY, for children with social, emotional or learning challenges such as autism. Coop Board president over 40 years. Bill is survived by his wife Joy, daughter Elizabeth ‘87, son William Jr ‘80. and 5 grandchildren: Max, Aidan, Annika, Nash and Soren. Also, his niece and nephew, Linda Saxl Minton ’82 and Stephen Saxl ’85.
