She'll share the low-down on test prep resources, managing test anxiety, how and when to get your child started on test prep, and of course, tips and techniques to avoid those trick answer choices!

Choosing to apply to middle- or high school can be a daunting process: Which school is the best fit for your child and your family? Should you limit your search to local options or consider boarding school? From finding time for test prep to writing the admissions essay, from conjuring up a school list to crunching tuition figures, the school admissions process is fraught with big questions and challenges – especially given the changes and disruptions of recent years. The Brown Club is thrilled to have two terrific experts – in both boarding schools and NYC independent schools – together to address these topics and more!


Maurice FrumkinMaurice Frumkin is President of NYC Admissions Solutions, former Deputy Executive Director of High School Admissions with the NYC Department of Education, and former independent school admissions officer. He has over 15 years of experience counseling schools, families and other organizations on school admissions. Maurice and his team of admissions experts work personally with families to help navigate both public and private school admissions for Pre-K through college.


karen-berlin-ishiiKaren Berlin Ishii, a Brown alumna with over 20 years’ test prep teaching experience, specializes in individualized prep for the ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, SAT, ACT and other admissions exams. She has taught for The Princeton Review and headed Boston Academic Tutors, creating courses for The British School in Boston, among others. She edits Barron's and Wiley's prep books for the ISEE and SSAT and is a faculty member at Summer@Brown, where she conducts SAT and ACT prep workshops.


Krista PetersonKrista Peterson is a College and Secondary School Admission Consultant with College Goals. Krista brings many years' experience as director and associate director of admissions and as a college advisor in several boarding schools. Now an independent educational consultant working with independent school and college applicants, Krista brings tremendous insight and range to advising students and parents.


Robin AronowRobin Aronow, Ph.D., a Cornell alumna, is an educational consultant and founder of School Search NYC. For 25 years, Robin has helped families successfully navigate school admissions from nursery-grade 12 at both private and public schools. She consults individually with families, as well as with schools, as their families transition into kindergarten, middle- and high school. Robin conducts workshops throughout the city and has written articles on admission processes.
