The Brown Media Group Film Festival is an opportunity for emerging filmmakers to showcase their work alongside more established filmmakers. The festival brings together directors, actors, writers, producers, and other creative types for an unparalleled evening of storytelling.
We are currently accepting scripted films, documentaries and animation shorts up to 20 minutes in duration. Each work must be either Alumni directed, written or produced, or feature an Alum as a lead or supporting actor. In order for your work to be considered you must mention the Alumni's role in your film and their Class Year.
Selected films will be screened exclusively in NYC and LA. The festival will also be live-streamed on campus in Providence for the next generation of Brown filmmakers.
Past speakers include Kate Burton '79 (Grey's Anatomy, Scandal), Doug Liman '88 (Bourne Identity, Mr & Mrs. Smith, The O.C), Yoruba Richen '94 (The Killing of Breonna Taylor, The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks), Frank Lesser '02 (Colbert Report), and Chris Brancato '84 (Narcos, Godfather of Harlem) who have all enthralled us with their insights, stories, and encouragement to find our creative paths.
We look forward to seeing your new work and hopefully seeing you in person in the Spring!
